Soulm8te

Soulm8te

A man acquires an Artificially Intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife. In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently turns a harmless lovebot into a deadly soulmate.

Weeping Quake says: *Soulm8te* arrives with a chilling premise, but ultimately struggles to connect. Kate Dolan’s direction, while stylish, can’t quite elevate the narrative beyond a predictable trajectory. Valerie Hanna, Lily Sullivan, and Claudia Doumit deliver performances that are competent, yet the character dynamics feel underdeveloped, leaving an emotional void. At 99 minutes, the pacing often drags, especially in the film’s crucial middle act. The initial intrigue of a lovebot turning deadly quickly dissipates into a familiar horror-sci-fi landscape. Despite its promising foundation, *Soulm8te* never truly ignites, offering little in the way of genuine entertainment. The journey from harmless companion to dangerous partner feels more perfunctory than terrifying. This is a film that hints at profundity but ultimately settles for mediocrity.
