The Sheep Detectives

In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can't possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realize they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.
maryville says:
Kyle Balda’s *The Sheep Detectives* delivers a peculiar premise with a mostly agreeable execution. Hugh Jackman, Brett Goldstein, and Patrick Stewart lend their distinct voices, creating a dynamic that occasionally sparks but rarely ignites. The sheep themselves, as the titular investigators, are charming enough, yet their collective brilliance feels more asserted than genuinely earned. At 109 minutes, the pacing ambles along, never quite reaching a brisk trot, nor lingering long enough to deepen its more intriguing moments. While the mystery itself offers some mild diversions, it doesn't quite elevate beyond predictable twists. Ultimately, the film offers a pleasant, if somewhat unremarkable, family viewing experience. It’s a perfectly fine way to spend an afternoon, though it won't likely leave a lasting hoofprint on your memory.
